CITE, SITE AND SIGHT – Commonly confusing words (LESSON-24)

Hello, friends!
My name is Snehal and today we are going to talk about three different words whose pronunciation is same but their meaning is different. And these three words are: Cite, Site and Sight. So, without wasting much time, let’s explore them.

1. Cite is spelled as C-I-T-E. The meaning of this word is as an example or to quote. It is a verb. Let’s see some sentences and then it will be clear to you.
1.1 High School English Grammar by Wren and Martin has been cited as the best book for learning English grammar.
1.2 They missed to cite rates of some parts in the email copy of P.O.

2. Site is spelled as S-I-T-E. The meaning of this word is place or location. It is a noun as well as a verb. A few sample sentences are:
2.1 The Taj Mahel is an enticing site for almost all tourists in the world.
2.2 The industrial area is strategically sited to allow anybody without much complexity.

3. Sight is spelled as S-I-G-H-T. The meaning of this word is look, vision or glimpse. It is also a noun and a verb. A few examples are:
3.1 Jaipur is known as the Pink city. During Diwali, the sights of the city are superb!
3.2 He is the best leader who sighted global melt down three years back.
